Which is why the TrailBear finds himself at the base of the mountains, looking for the SGRT trailhead. The trail runs from Seal Beach to the ranger station on HWY 39 above Azuza. It has dark green and glossy evergreen leaves and gray shredding bark that exposes mahogany and tan sections underneath.

The California ground squirrel (Otospermophilus beecheyi), is a common and easily observed ground squirrel of the western United States and the Baja California Peninsula; it is common in Oregon and California and its range has relatively recently extended into Washington and northwestern Nevada.

Malosma laurina is a large, rounded evergreen shrub or small tree growing 10–15 feet tall. The American kestrel (Falco sparverius), sometimes colloquially known as the sparrow hawk, is a small falcon, and the only kestrel found in the Americas. Wonder where they put it. Looked like a nice park from the street. Fairly mellow trail but there are some rock drops or step-ups depending on direction. The northern segment begins near Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. Very little markings, dirty, a little less safe - feeling (I'm a woman, riding alone.) 2,600 feet north of Mines Avenue spanning the San Gabriel River, and Class I and II bike lanes along Dunlap Crossing Road from the San Gabriel River to Norwalk Boulevard. I ride bike on this trail couple times a month. Again. The nearest thing would be the LA County bike map. The Watershed Conservation Authority, a partner of the state's San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy.  It is native to Southern California and northern Baja California, where it grows in coastal chaparral habitat.

OHV Trail Riding. In both sexes, the underside is gray with a  row of round spots of variable size depending upon region. Once a wild animal gets accustomed to being fed by humans there is much more likelihood that an individual will get bitten by an animal looking for food.

The green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) is a species of freshwater fish in the sunfish family (Centrarchidae) of order Perciformes. The seeds of this plant can lie dormant for hundreds of years, and Ceanothus species are typically dependent on wild fires to trigger germination of their seeds. It is found in Baja California and Sonora in Mexico and in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Utah in the United States. Note the signs for the Encanto Trail/Azusa River Wilderness Park. She then lays an egg on the spider. TB measured 2.45 miles from the NE corner of the dam to the trail switchback down the face and onward.

The brown pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) is a small pelican found in the Americas. According to a National Geographic TV program, the highest measured speed of a peregrine falcon is 389 km/h (242 mph).

 

It is one of only three pelican species found in the Western Hemisphere. The Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area is an LA County Park and there is an entry fee: $10/vehicle. Wife down at Liberty reports heavy rains there. Turns into the BB&PP across the river.

Toyon is a prominent component of the coastal sage scrub plant community, and is a part of drought-adapted chaparral and mixed oak woodland habitats. The SGRT goes ahead. you enter a region of modest homes with horses in the back yards (and goats and chickens and more). (Note that a parking fee is charged here.). The trail is a popular bicycle route. Do not allow children and pets to consume.
